Who can get the Student discount Smartcard?
The student discount is available for colleges signed up for the scheme. To find the list of colleges signed up, please check the "Can I Apply" Section. If your college is not listed on our website and is registered with The Department of Education, ask your college to contact our customer relations team on 0345 744 4422 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will see what we can do to help
Am I classed as a student for this scheme?
This offer is open to Students at colleges signed up for the scheme. Full Time student are defined as students 16+ who have at least 15 tuition-led and or structured learning hours a week, over a minimum of 14 weeks on the same course. For students under 16, they should take advantage of existing 50% off Adult season tickets.
For students at South Essex College, this scheme is also opened to part time students & apprentices aged 16-19.
How do I get the Student Discount?
All you need to do is register online – we will then send your Student discount Smartcard to your college and you will receive a link via e-mail to buy your discounted ticket. Once you get your Smartcard you will need to use the last 8 digits of your c2c Smartcard to get your discount.
How much does the card cost?
The Student discount card is completely FREE! However if your smartcard is damaged, lost or stolen, National Conditions of Carriage apply and a £20 administration fee will be charged. Click here to see Smartcard Terms and Conditions.
Where does my Student Smartcard allow me to travel?
You student Smartcard will allow you travel from anywhere along the c2c route.
Where can I buy my discounted ticket?
You can only buy your discounted season ticket online once you have collected your c2c Student Smartcard – you will need to use the same email address you used to register for your c2c Smartcard plus the last 8 digits on your Smartcard to redeem your discount. When you first purchase your ticket you will be asked to register an online booking account, please use the same email address.
What is my Photo Rail ID No.?
When booking online you will be asked for a photo ID no., use the last 8 digits of your c2c Smartcard.
Will any further identification be needed?
When travelling with us you maybe asked to prove that you are a student – this can be done by showing your college identification card or your Student card.
What is the discount?
You can get 1/3 off weekly season tickets. When you select your journey online, the fares with a discount will appear with an *.
How long will it take for my new Student Smartcard to be delivered?
It will take up to 3 – 10 days for your Student Smartcard to be delivered.
