What happens if I don’t/can’t tap in or out because the gateline is out of operation?

You must validate your pass before travelling. First, please make sure a member of staff knows that the gateline is not in operation before you start your journey. Once we are aware we will send a message to all of our ticket inspectors and stations and let you travel without tapping in.

If ticket inspectors aren’t aware that the barrier is out of operation, you may receive a penalty fare for not tapping in, so please make sure that you tell a member of staff before travelling. Once you have finished your journey, your Flexi Season ticket will be activated when you tap out at your destination station.
