Flexi-Season tickets

A Flexi-Season ticket offers similar savings to a Season ticket – but you only pay for the days you travel. Flexi-Season tickets also work like a Season ticket, except you buy it as a bundle of 10 all-day travel tickets which you can top up online. Each time you use one of your Flexi-Season tickets, you travel like it’s a Season ticket, with unlimited journeys that day between the two stations you’ve selected. Flexi-Seasons are only available on Smartcards.

FAQ connected to this ticket type

  1. 1. How can I check how many Flexi passes I have left? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

If you would like to know how many tickets are left on your Flexi-Season ticket, just log into your c2c-online account and follow these steps:

    1. Go to ‘My Smartcards’ and find the Smartcard where your Flexi-Season ticket is loaded
    2. Click on the three dots on the right hand side and select ‘View Smartcard products’
    3. This will display all the products on the Smartcard, including your Flexi-Season ticket and the remaining passes left on that ticket

  2. 2. How can I top-up my Flexi-Season ticket? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

Once you have purchased your first bundle of 10 tickets, you will then need to use the top-up function. Continually buying Flexi-Season tickets using the main ticket purchase process will cause problems with your Smartcard.

To top-up, login to your account and follow these steps:

    1. Go to ‘My Tickets’ and locate your original Flexi-Season purchase
    2. Click ‘More details’ to display the details of the original purchase
    3. Select ‘Top up’ and follow the instructions to complete the top-up purchase

  3. 3. What happens if I don't/can't tap in or out? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

It’s really important that you tap in and out when you are travelling with a c2c Smartcard. If you don’t tap in at the start of your journey, your Flexi-Season won’t be activated and you won’t have a valid ticket, which could result in a penalty fare. Plus, if you don’t tap out there’s a chance that the wrong product will be used. Also, you’ll need to tap in and out to be eligible for any credit for travelling off-peak and to receive any Automatic Delay Repay payments that you may be due.

  4. 4. How does the credit for travelling off-peak work? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

If on one of the days that you use a Flexi-Season ticket you only travel off-peak, we will credit the c2c online account linked to your Smartcard with an eVoucher worth 10% of the cost of that day’s travel. If you use your Flexi-Season ticket on Saturday, Sunday or a Bank Holiday, your online account will be credited with the difference in price between the cost of that day’s Flexi-Season ticket travel and that of a Weekend Off-Peak Day Return. An eVoucher will be credited to your account approximately 10 days after the date of your journey. Please note: you must always tap in and tap out to receive this reward.

As an example, if you bought a Flexi-Season for £150, the cost for each day’s travel is £15. If you travel off-peak one day you will therefore receive an eVoucher worth £1.50. If you travel at the weekend, you will generally receive an eVoucher of around £4.88.

  5. 5. When do the tickets expire? products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

Each Flexi-Season bundle of 10 tickets is valid for 26 weeks from purchase; any remaining tickets that you haven’t used within this time will expire. However, if you purchase another Flexi-Season between the same two c2c stations we will extend the validity of any unused tickets by another 26 weeks.

  6. 6. Your first purchase of Flexi-Season tickets products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

For first time users, you can purchase your first bundle of 10 Flexi-Season tickets using the main ticket purchase process.

  7. 7. Loading your Flexi-Season ticket onto your Smartcard products-faq-angle-arrow.svg products-faq-angle-arrow-purple.svg

When you buy your first Flexi-Season ticket and each time you top-up thereafter, you will need to select which station you would like to ‘load’ your tickets. This process allows the ticket to physically load onto your Smartcard, using the card reader at the station. When loading your ticket, you need to press and hold your Smartcard against the reader until you hear the beep and see a green light on the display. If you here a double-beep and see a red light, try again making sure you keep the card as still as possible. If you continue to hear the double-beep and see the red light, please seek attention from a member of staff.
