After celebrating its 40th birthday with cupcakes for commuters, c2c’s most sprightly station, Basildon,  packs a powerful punch with a newly renovated ticket hall, fast connections from London Fenchurch Street and the Southend Coast, and attractions to blow your feet off!

Located between Laindon and Pitsea, Basildon is the second-busiest c2c station in Essex, and it seems impossible now to imagine the town without the station at the heart of it. Book in advance online to save up to 40%. If you’re planning a night out with friends, save a third on your rail fare when you travel in a group of 3-9 people with our GroupSave tickets

Things to do in Basildon

Basildon is one of Essex’s liveliest cities. If you want to get fit, head to Basildon Sporting Village - according to Sports England more people swim in Basildon than anywhere else in the country. If you are looking for a bit of culture then head on down to Towngate Theatre. Basildon made its name through shopping - when Eastgate Shopping Centre was built it was the largest shopping centre in Essex and it drew in thousands of people. It may not be the largest now but it’s still popular. You can shop away an afternoon in such stores as Debenhams, H&M, Topshop and Superdry.

Travelling to Festival Leisure Park

For those with a more adventurous streak, take a 30 minute walk through picturesque Gloucester Park or a short bus or taxi ride to arrive at Basildon’s must visit for fun days out: Festival Leisure Park. Home to a leading wake-boarding school where you can fly along 660m of cables, test your mettle with this unique centre fully equipped to cater for all levels and ages.

Festival Leisure Park also houses 18-screen Empire Cinema, a plethora of shops, nightclubs and restaurants, and Hollywood Bowling. For more information and inspiration for days and nights out in Basildon, check out our complete Basildon guide.
