Get your skates on and glide on over to some of the most popular ice skating rinks along our route. There’s nothing quite like skating into the winter’s season spirit with a pair of skates on, dancing round the rink at the famous 18thcentury courtyard with the beautiful backdrop of London in lights. And with food, drink and music on offer as you skate, it’s one of the top rinks to visit

Resembling something out of a fairytale, the fantastic backdrop of London’s iconic Museum sparkling in lights and trees glittering with decorations is picture perfect. The towering Christmas tree centre to the ice rink also adds to the season’s glee of passing patrons both on and off the ice, as there’s plenty to enjoy around the perimeter too.

Winter Season November to January

The immensely popular rooftop bar has made its timely transition into its winter season. Now you can skate atop this former carpark with a glorious view of the skyline, as well wining and dining in fairy-light draped areas and purpose built igloos. This is probably one of the best spots for that Instagram worthy shot!

Canary Wharf Ice Rink, Canada Square Park

The ice rink that sits amongst the towering buildings of Canary Wharf spans a sizeable 1200 square metres, giving you plenty of room to twirl (or fall over) on the ice. Glide underneath the thousands of twinkling lights and skate through narrow trails as decorated trees umbrella over you.

Open seven days a week, this is a great spot for early or late skating sessions with friends and family.

Nearest c2c station: West Ham or Limehouse then change for the DLR.

The yearlong ice skating centre based in North East London, just outside of Stratford, is a well-maintained modern rink comparatively a lot warmer than the open air city rinks. Lee Valley’s bonus points come from the very popular ‘Disco Nights’ every weekend, where you can strut your stuff on the ice! Free skating and skating lessons are also readily available for all ages.
