We are excited to announce we have launched a new money-saving Mini Break ticket for customers planning a long weekend in the capital or a seaside break in Southend, and is also running extra trains over the summer period to help boost local tourism.

The new Mini Break ticket offers a cheap return option for people staying away up to three nights on a staycation. Available to limited destinations in London and Southend only, the Mini Break ticket works out on average 25% cheaper than buying two Anytime day singles – making it great value for that much longed-for trip away from home.

To help make trips by rail even more attractive, c2c is also running additional daytime off-peak trains for the duration of the school summer holidays. Four trains will be running every hour between Shoeburyness and London Fenchurch Street via Basildon in each direction until September. This provides both extra capacity and a more attractive frequency for families looking for a day out in London or by the sea.

c2c Commercial Director Clare McCaffrey said: “This is the first time we have offered a discounted return ticket that isn’t restricted to on-the-day return only. We are confident this special summer ticket will be popular with customers wishing to recharge their batteries on a break to London or to the South Essex coast.”

Rochford and Southend East MP James Duddridge, said: “Tourism is going to play a key part in helping Southend to build back better from the pandemic, and I welcome c2c’s new Mini Break ticket, which will further boost our town’s staycation appeal. Not only that, local people will also benefit from cheaper travel to London if they fancy a stay over in the Capital for a few days this summer.”

To celebrate the launch of the new ticket, c2c is running a competition in partnership with the Holiday Inn, Stratford. One lucky winner will walk away with a night’s accommodation, a meal for two plus a £200 Westfield shopping voucher.

Daniella Boden, Director of Sales and Marketing for the hotel, said: “Holiday Inn London Stratford City are excited to be launching the mini break competition with c2c trains to showcase all Stratford City and our hotel has to offer for the perfect mini break in East London.”

c2c’s new Mini Break ticket will be available on c2c routes only and can be purchased via ticket offices, website and the app. It is also available to purchase on a c2c Smartcard.
