This summer, South Essex train operator c2c is unveiling a fresh new community-focused campaign to inspire travel across its network – from Southend’s iconic arcades to London’s top attractions – with a clear message: summer adventures are ‘As easy as c2c.’

Running throughout the summer until early September (with the broader campaign platform continuing into the rest of the year), ‘As easy as c2c’ is a multichannel campaign that blends creativity, convenience and community in a playful new direction for the brand. 

Developed by creative agency, bandstand, the campaign is built around the idea that c2c’s convenience and value makes getting to your day out the easiest part. This is brought to life through real photography and tongue-in-cheek destination wordplay (like FestiValerie, Hailey-on-Sea and Adventure IslAndersons), putting community at the heart of the destination, bringing a smile to audiences and showcasing local character and charm.  

c2c Managing Director, Rob Mullen said:

“This campaign is about more than just travel — it’s about showing how easy and joyful it is to get out and explore. From the arcades and beaches of Southend to festivals in London, we want people to know the hardest part of summer should be choosing what to do, not how to get there.  

“With nine beaches along our route and offers like 2FOR1 and 1/3 OFF top attractions nationwide through the RDG Days Out Guide, there’s something for everyone. With strong community links through our partnerships with local attractions, charities and businesses, this campaign reflects the real people and places that make our network so special.”

“c2c’s summer campaign was shaped by the real people and places that make South Essex and London so distinctive. It was a joy to build a campaign that made c2c’s convenience story feel fresh, authentic and completely ownable.” 

In keeping with railway branding seen across national campaigns by Network Rail or RDG, the campaign will also include the railway double-arrows, further strengthening the association with the national rail network. 

At its core, ‘As easy as c2c’ is about community. The campaign’s user-generated-style photography and film was all captured on the c2c network – some of which directly by the campaign team on location. This authentic approach leaves the door wide open for passengers to take part in later campaign iterations. 

Whether it’s seaside days in Leigh-on-Sea, thrill rides at Adventure Island, or discounted access to London’s biggest events and attractions, this campaign invites customers to travel smarter and enjoy more.
