Full time FTC/Secondment up to 1 yr, 24/7 shift pattern, Shoeburyness (Reference 001506)

A great opportunity has arisen for an individual who is forward-thinking and enthusiastic about driving change and working in a team to achieve exceptional levels of performance. You will be a part of a team of Service & Resourcing Managers based at Shoeburyness Depot to ensure that the c2c train service is adequately resourced to provide the timetable which is advertised and any additional requirements that arise at short notice. The role has additional responsibilities to ensure all Drivers are issued with relevant information and publications and for the authorisation and control of all movements on Shoeburyness Depot through effective utilisation of c2c Depot Supervisors and Shunt Drivers.

The role demands a high level of flexibility, as you will be expected to work early, late and night shifts. To be successful in this role you will need to be an organised and logical problem solver with strong communication, negotiating and influencing skills. A professional, disciplined and conscientious approach with meticulous attention to detail is also needed to ensure safety, competence and people management standards are maintained. A high standard of software skills e.g. Excel, and Word is also important for this role. Experience of working in an operationally focused team is ideal with demonstrable experience of successfully managing the various challenges of a position within an Operations environment.

This is FTC/secondment opportunity for up to 1 year.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operational expertise – in terms of maintaining standards and competence; and ensuring the delivery of a safe operational railway through effective resource management.
  • Safety responsibilities – in terms of having overall responsibility for safety within Shoeburyness Depot.
  • Budgetary responsibility – in terms of delay and cancellation budgets, as well as overtime, rest day and taxi costs.
  • People management and development – responsibility for a range of tasks from managing sickness absence to identifying development needs and briefing and coaching teams.

Knowledge, skills and competencies:

  • Knowledge and demonstrates competence in people management techniques
  • Great at time management and balancing multiple streams of work in a pressurised environment.
  • Strong IT skills
  • Traincrew background and PTS competent an advantage
  • Knowledge and understanding of Train Driver Rules and Regulations an advantage
