Local rail operator c2c Railway has become the first UK train operating company (TOC) to join Stamp Out Spiking, a national campaign dedicated to tackling the growing problem of drink spiking and supporting victims across the UK.
By becoming the first TOC to partner with Stamp Out Spiking, c2c reinforces its commitment to safeguarding customers and colleagues from this devastating crime, while raising awareness that spiking can happen anywhere — not just in bars and clubs.
c2c Manging Director, Rob Mullen, said:
“I am really proud to say that c2c is the first TOC to become a member of Stamp Out Spiking. Dawn has previously spoken at our Safeguarding Conferences to raise awareness about spiking with our colleagues, and what we in the railway can do to help stamp it out in our local communities and beyond.”
By becoming a member of Stamp Out Spiking, c2c will also be supporting all Stamp Out Spiking’s beneficiaries. These are victims, the public and small organisations that provide frontline services for spiking victims, such as the Street Pastors and victim support services.
Dawn Dines, CEO and Founder of Stamp Out Spiking, has spoken impactfully about spiking at several c2c safeguarding conferences, where many of its stakeholders, other TOCs and local partners have been in attendance.
Dawn Dines, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome c2c Railway as a proud member of Stamp Out Spiking. Spiking is not confined to bars and clubs — it can happen anywhere and tackling it requires the commitment of a broad range of organisations.
“By joining our campaign, c2c is showing vital leadership in protecting passengers, supporting staff and raising awareness across the transport sector. This kind of cross-industry action is exactly what we need to make communities safer and ensure that no one is left vulnerable to this devastating crime.”
c2c Head of Revenue Protection and Security, Iain Palmer, said:
“I am very pleased that c2c has become the first TOC to partner with Stamp Out Spiking, I have had the pleasure of meeting Dawn and inviting her to speak at our safeguarding conferences on a couple of occasions now, where she always has an amazing impact on the attendees.
“Spiking affects so many people and as a community railway, we want to ensure that our customers and colleagues know that we are here to support them and offer a place of safety.”
