Nearby is the Upminster Tithe Barn and Agricultural and Folk Museum, here you can discover the history of the area, and if that is not enough you can visit one of the oldest windmills in grater London, Upminster Windmill. If you are looking to get back to nature a visit to the Thames Chase Forest is a must. At Upminster you can change train to Romford and enjoy the shopping and leisure centres that are available.
DRINKS & DINING
Only minutes from the station on Station Road you will find Othello Steakhouse, Pizza Express and Wimpy amongst others. Near Thames Chase Forest are two country pubs The Thatched House and the Jobbers Rest. In Romford you will find a number of restaurants in The Brewery and Liberty Shopping Centre.
Most of the shops in Upminster are located on Station Road, St Mary’s Lane and Corbets Tay Road. A short train journey away is Romford where Romford Market has been selling its wares to the public since medieval times. The market is open every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Romford also has three shopping centres Liberty Shopping Centre, The Mall and The Brewery.
The Essex Yeoman and the Platform 7 bar are great places to start your night off. If you want to be clubbing into the wee hours you can catch the Overground to East London or a c2c service to Stratford, and check out the many trendy nightclubs and music venues or you can head to The Brewery in Romford.
