We are determined to manage and reduce our carbon footprint and effect on the environment.
Over the coming months we will be introducing new measures to ensure that we can further reduce the relatively small impact on the environment that rail travel makes compared to other forms of transport.

All our trains now help the environment
From Monday 4th June, you may notice a train dressed in a distinctive green livery aimed at highlighting the good news that all 74 of our trains are now helping the environment.
A new device has been fitted that ensures that as the driver applies the brakes, the electricity that this action produces is returned direct to the power supply by way of the overhead apparatus.
We call this regenerative braking and we are proud that c2c is the first mainline train operator in the UK to introduce this energy saving measure across its entire fleet of trains.
We are also delighted that we are already experiencing energy savings of up to 20%.
