Stanford-le-Hope is an ancient town that is famous for being where novelist Joseph Conrad lived and wrote. Stanford-le-Hope is a short walk from the station is the St Cleres Hall Golf Club. Foodies will love the awarding winning Bell Inn. This 15th Century coaching inn offers a simple menu that is inspired by the local area. There are a handful of shops located on the high street – but if you want to do some serious shopping, make your way to into Lakeside Shopping Centre.
