Ockendon is an ancient and pretty town with a picturesque village green. A short distance from the station are the lovely Belhus woods with and two golf courses – The Belhus Woods Golf Club and Mardyke Valley Golf Club.
Ticket Machines for purchasing tickets on the day and pre purchased tickets are available. Oyster ticket Machines are available, however Oyster pre-paid is not.

Step free access is available from street level to platform. Platform 2 is only used for certain trains during peak hours, Monday - Friday. Accessible ticket machines and an induction loop are available. Impaired mobility set down is available outside the station entrance. National key toilets are on Platform 1.

Not far from Ockendon is Lakeside Shopping Centre, which has a number of high street and designer stores. If you enjoy fishing, you can cast your line at Anniversary Syndicate Lake and Golden Gates Fishery. Nearby The Royal Oak is a quaint historic country pub and coaching inn which has stood on the South Ockendon village green since 1485 and has welcomed Dick Turpin through the doors.

During disruption, ticket acceptance may be arranged on the TfL 370 Bus to Lakeside (for Chafford Hundred) and Romford via Upminster. These buses operate from bus stops on South Road, near the Royal Oak Public House.
