[26 March 2024] East London and South Essex rail firm c2c Trenitalia has announced a number of timetable changes to be introduced on Sunday 2 June, including an increase in off-peak services between Shoeburyness and London Fenchurch Street.

c2c has today published full details of the changes being made to its timetable from Sunday 2 June 2024.

The amended timetable, which includes two new morning peak (Monday to Friday) services from Shoeburyness/Leigh-on-Sea to Fenchurch Street, will see two additional off-peak services (Monday to Friday) running every hour in both directions from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness.

The introduction of these additional off-peak services means that many stations on the c2c route will provide customers with a regular, four trains per hour, 15-minute service.

Here are the timetable changes in full:

Mondays to Fridays (peak) from 2 June 2024

Additional services:

  • 07:08 Leigh-on-Sea to London Fenchurch Street service will call at all stations to Basildon, then West Ham, Limehouse and Fenchurch Street
  • 07:45 Shoeburyness to London Fenchurch Street will call at all stations to Chalkwell, then Basildon, West Horndon, Upminster, West Ham, Limehouse and Fenchurch Street

Changes to current services:

  • 06:45 Shoeburyness to London Fenchurch Street will depart at 06:48, and no longer call at Pitsea, Basildon, West Ham or Limehouse
  • 08:03 Leigh-on-Sea to Fenchurch Street will depart at 08:04, and no longer call at West Horndon
Mondays to Fridays (off-peak) from 2 June 2024

The following additional and amended services will call at all stations via Basildon, excluding West Horndon and Pitsea.

Commenting on the forthcoming timetable changes, c2c’s Managing Director, Rob Mullen, said:

“We continually review and monitor our passenger numbers, frequency and times of services and train capacities to ensure that we operate an efficient and reliable service which meets the needs of customers.

“Our scheduling teams keep a close eye on passenger movements and changing travel patterns, and I am delighted that we are in a position where we can introduce two additional morning peak services, while also doubling the number of off-peak services we run between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness (via Basildon) each Monday to Friday.

“The increase in the frequency of off-peak services – back to four trains per hour – means that many of our customers will have access to an additional 190 services each week.”
