To mark Better Transport Week (16 – 22 June), an annual campaign delivered by the Campaign for Better Transport (CBT) to help improve public transport, tackle climate change and create a more inclusive society, c2c has partnered with the Colegrave Primary School in Stratford to promote the many benefits of rail travel and greener and more sustainable modes of travel.

As an official sponsor and supporter of Better Transport Week, c2c is encouraging the communities it serves to consider taking the train as, research published by CBT has revealed, rail travel ‘shrinks traffic jams, cleans up our air and tackles climate change, all while improving our health and boosting the UK economy.’

Rob Mullen, Managing Director of c2c, said:

“It is great to be partnering with Colegrave Primary School to both celebrate and highlight Better Transport Week, and how train travel can help improve air quality and reduce social isolation, while connecting people with work, education and leisure opportunities.

“Before the schools break up for summer holidays, we will be taking a group of children, teachers and parents from Colegrave on a special daytrip to the seaside at Southend where they can experience and learn all about c2c’s services, before enjoying an ice cream and some down time on the beach.”

Karen Palmer, Lead Teacher-Autism, at Colegrave Primary School, added:

“Colegrave Primary School is delighted to be partnering with c2c for Better Transport Week, and over the coming days and weeks we will be dedicating some lesson and assembly time to introducing and discussing the important role that c2c and public transport plays in our community.

“We are all very excited by our forthcoming trip to Southend seaside, and for many this will be their first experience of trains and c2c. It really is the most perfect trip for autistic children who will enjoy both the trains and the calming sensory experience of the water.”
