c2c Railway Ltd is delighted to announce the launch of a pioneering British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter service, aimed at supporting deaf and hard of hearing customers. This initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to making travel more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

Starting this month, deaf passengers travelling on the c2c network will have access to a live BSL interpreter via an easy-to-use app or online link. By connecting with an interpreter through a video call, customers can communicate directly with c2c staff regarding any aspect of their journey, including travel information, disruption updates, and ticketing queries.

The new service, InterpretersLive! operated in partnership with Sign Solutions empowers deaf customers to access real-time support in their first or preferred language of BSL, ensuring a more equitable and confident travel experience. Passengers can quickly connect to a BSL interpreter whether they are at home, on the move, or at any station, simply using their smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC.

c2c’s Accessibility & Integrated Travel Manager Steve Scutt, said:

“We are dedicated to making our network as welcoming and accessible as possible. The introduction of the BSL interpreter service will enable our team to assist deaf and hard of hearing customers more effectively, especially during times of disruption or when extra support is needed.”

Sophie Kang, Sales and Marketing Manager at Sign Solutions added:

“We are proud to support c2c in their commitment to improving accessibility for deaf passengers. By introducing InterpretersLive!, passengers will be able to communicate easily with station staff along with over the phone, helping to remove communication barriers and enhance the overall experience for deaf passengers.”

This enhancement builds on c2c Railway’s existing accessibility efforts and is part of a broader strategy to improve the travel experience for all customers.

The service can be accessed through the c2c website or on the InterpretersLive! app or website.
