25 November 2024

To mark White Ribbon Day 2024, local rail operator Trenitalia c2c has launched its 2024 Rail Safety Survey, in partnership with the British Transport Police (BTP).

The organisations are calling on customers from across the c2c route to share their feedback in the survey. The results will be used to help c2c and BTP identify areas for improvement and facilitate a better understanding of customers’ views or concerns, allowing provision of a better and safer service for customers.

The Rail Safety Survey will take less than five minutes to complete and covers multiple aspects of safety across the c2c line. The survey is now live and will be open for feedback until 13 December 2024.

Those taking part will be entered into a prize draw with a chance to win a £100 voucher. You can complete the Rail Safety Survey by clicking here.

Head of Revenue Protection and Security, Iain Palmer, said of the survey, “It is incredibly important to us that we continually strive to make our stations and trains an oasis of safety and security. Nobody should ever be subject to feeling insecure or unsafe, especially not when travelling on the railways, which is why we want all our passengers to take part in this survey.

“For us at c2c, understanding what our passengers feel when using our services is incredibly important, as we can use the information to make the necessary adjustments to continue our ever-evolving quest to ensure safety and security measures are the very best at c2c,” he added.

c2c’s dedication towards passenger safety is paramount. The operator is proud to work with organisations such as the BTP and White Ribbon, demonstrating this ongoing commitment.

British Transport Police Sergent, Jay Bibby, said: “Your opinion matters, so please spare five minutes to complete this survey on passenger attitudes to using c2c rail, help us understand what we could do to make you feel safer.”

c2c’s Palmer continues, “Our partnership with BTP and engagement with organisations such as White Ribbon and Missing People are very meaningful to us and continually provide new information that keeps us questioning what we can do to ensure all our passengers feel safe at all times. So, please take a moment and complete our survey, as we’d love to hear your feedback about rail safety across the c2c network.”

Further reinforcing that help is available, c2c and BTP are reminding customers that if they see or experience a crime while using the railway to text 61016 or use the Railway Guardian App to report incidents immediately.

White Ribbon

White Ribbon is a UK charity dedicated to eradicating violence towards women and girls. At c2c, we are dedicated to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with White Ribbon and encourage everybody to take the White Ribbon Pledge, which can be done online in less than five minutes by clicking here.

Furthermore, c2c achieved the White Ribbon Accreditation earlier this year. To earn the accreditation, c2c set up a White Ribbon steering group and recruited ambassadors to commit to the cause and ensure we are doing all we can to act against gender inequality. We have also set out an initial action plan for the first six months to outline the actions that we as an organisation would take to meet our commitments.

Actions to challenge the culture of gender inequality continue to be spearheaded by the White Ribbon steering group, with representation from across the business.

Women can become White Ribbon Champions, which means that you share White Ribbon’s message and want to raise awareness about harmful definitions of masculinity and promote positive traits such as empathy and care.

Meanwhile, men can become a White Ribbon Ambassador, which shows that you have taken the promise to stand up to end violence against women and girls, while raising awareness about the harmful impact that toxic masculinity has.

British Transport Police

British Transport Police patrol stations and the rail network across England, Scotland and Wales. Our specially trained officers take every report seriously.

Text the BTP on 61016

Our 61016 text service is monitored 24/7. When needed, we can send officers to meet your train at the next station. If you’re experiencing sexual behaviour that is making you feel uncomfortable right now, we urge you to report it.

Railway Guardian App

The free Railway Guardian app is an all-in-one safety app that helps you report crime on public transport or at stations, managed by the British Transport Police. It also provides information on what to do if you witness sexual harassment.

The app allows you to report crimes or concerns on the rail network, share your journeys with trusted contacts, and get access to news, guides, or support.
