Basildon is one of Essex’s liveliest cities. It has three shopping centres and the Festival Leisure Park has a number of attractions like the Festival Wakeboarding Park and Hollywood Bowling. If you want to get fit head to Basildon Sporting Village, according to Sports England more people swim in Basildon than anywhere else in the country. If you are looking for a bit of culture then head on down to Towngate Theatre.
DRINKS & DINING
There are a number of restaurants and pubs to be found at Festival Leisure Park, Eastgate Shopping Centre, the town Centre and at Westgate Shopping Park. A favourite with families is Grand Central and American casual dining establishment where you can watch a film while you eat complete with a pair of wireless headphones.
Basildon made its name through shopping when Eastgate Shopping Centre was built it was the largest shopping centre in Essex and it drew in thousands of people. It may not be the largest now but it’s still popular. You can shop away an afternoon in such store as Debenhams, H&M, Topshop and Superdry. Other shopping areas include Westgate Shopping Park, East Walk and Town Square.
Festival Leisure Park is the centre of Basildon’s nightlife it houses the UK’s third largest nightclub complex in the country. You can also go bowling at Hollywood bowls or watch a film at the 18 screen Empire Cinema.
