Christmas and New Year Services

We’re running direct trains into central London throughout the festive season, with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day. If you’re a Greater Anglia customer, why not avoid the engineering work affecting their Southend and Chelmsford line services to London, and their rail replacement bus, by travelling with us instead.

Our services over the festive season

You can check our full run down of services in our Service Alteration Calendar, but here’s a quick guide as reference:

Saturday 22 December

Our usual Saturday timetable will be running. However, we’ve also got some changes in place to support the West Ham United vs. Watford match. Please be aware that there will be some late night changes to services to / from London Liverpool Street and London Fenchurch Street.

Sunday 23 December

Over the weekend you can still reach London easily as we’ll be running into London Fenchurch Street and calling additionally at West Ham. We’re also running a number of longer 8-carriage services to Chafford Hundred for Christmas shopping at intu Lakeside. Liverpool Street station is closed.

Monday 24 December

We’re running a special Christmas Eve timetable rather than our usual Monday service. There will be at least four trains an hour via Laindon, plus additional services in the AM and PM peak, and two trains an hour via both Ockendon and Rainham. We also close earlier than normal because it’s Christmas Eve. Here’s an overview of the last services out of Fenchurch Street:

  • The last service via Basildon from London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness is at 22.02.
  • The last service via Ockendon from London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness is at 21:54
  • The last service via Rainham from London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness is at 21:40

Tuesday 25 December, Christmas Day

No service

Wednesday 26 December, Boxing Day

No service. However, c2c season tickets will be accepted for travel on Ensign Bus Route X10 between Lakeside and Southend Travel Centre via Basildon and Leigh-on-Sea for Boxing Day sales shopping.

Smartcard customers please note if your season ticket is held on a Smartcard then you’ll need to provide written confirmation of the product loaded to the smartcard – Customer Relations will provide an appropriate written authority if they are contacted in sufficient time prior to closing for the Christmas period.

Thursday 27 & Friday 28 December

We’ll be running a special service, but with some additional AM and PM services for those travelling to work. We’ve also added some longer services to Chafford Hundred for shopping at intu Lakeside.

Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 December

Although London Liverpool Street is closed over the weekend, you can still reach London easily as we’ll be running into London Fenchurch Street and calling additionally at West Ham. We’re also running a number of longer 8-carriage services to Chafford Hundred for shopping at intu Lakeside.

Monday 31 December, New Year’s Eve

We’re running to and from London Fenchurch Street on New Year’s Eve with an amended timetable.

Tuesday 01 January, New Year’s Day

We’ll be running a special Bank Holiday service. London Liverpool Street is closed and all our services will start from/ terminate at London Fenchurch Street, calling additionally at West Ham.
