Here at c2c we take pride in being an award-winning train operator running services between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness, serving 26 stations in East London and South Essex. As Essex Thameside train operator c2c hold a 99 year full lease covering all station assets and hence we act as Infrastructure Manager for our stations.

What you’ll do:

An opportunity has arisen for a talented communications professional to lead our communications team, and to help to shape the way we communicate both internally and externally. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing our communications strategy and establishing the company’s tone of voice and public presence across all channels
  • Leading c2c’s external and customer communications through national, local and trade media as well as through our digital channels
  • Managing relationships with local stakeholders including MPs, local authorities and local community and business groups to ensure we understand the local priorities of the region we serve
  • Guiding c2c’s internal communications through a period of extensive change, both within the business and across the rail industry
  • Providing counsel to c2c’s leadership team on communications issues
  • Managing our small but dedicated in-house team of communications experts

What is takes:

The role requires a confident and articulate individual with the ability to build relationships at all levels internally, and externally:

  • A seasoned practitioner with a proven track record of managing relationships, you’re your extensive experience of working in corporate communications, media relations or stakeholder management
  • An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with a clear, logical and informative style
  • A credible, articulate individual who is flexible, energetic, and able to cultivate contacts and establish and maintain internal relationships
  • The proven ability to guide and lead a team, and to bring the best out of everyone who works for you
  • Existing knowledge of the rail industry and/or the local area we serve is a distinct advantage, but a willingness to learn and understand these factors is absolutely essential
