Rooftop Bars in London
London is full of fabulous bars and restaurants with a view. We’ve compiled the list of the top rooftop bars close to our London stations, bar none. Well, we don’t think so anyway. We haven’t listed every single rooftop bar in London; Kensington Roof Gardens are stunning (complete with live flamingoes), but they’re way over to the west of London. This is a special selection, picked for good vibes and great locations near our network stations. After all, they're no good if you can’t get there, right? If you think we’ve missed one, let us know.
Nearest station - Fenchurch street
Of course you’re spoilt for choice in the city, but there are a couple of rooftop bars that are right on the station doorstep and worth a visit.
SkyLounge Bar, Doubletree by Hilton
7 Pepys Street, EC3N 4AF
Aside from its brilliant location, the bar and restaurant has a generously sized terrace, looking out over 360-degree views that include Tower Bridge, The Shard and the city skyline. And if you indulge in one cocktail too many, there are reasonably priced hotel rooms to check into.
Sky Pod Bar
1 Sky Garden Walk, EC3M 8AF
Housed in the Walkie-Talkie building or 20 Fenchurch Street, if you prefer, Sky Garden's Pod Bar is a fun place, with jazz nights and lots of standing room for busy times. View are fabulous - across the river to the Shard and more. Just don’t forget your jumper, as the ‘natural heating’ means it’s the same temperature as the air outside.
Barge House St, SE1 9PH
If you prefer to wander over the river and get your views from the south side, you can’t beat the Oxo Tower restaurant and brasserie. The views stretch over the river to St Paul's, the Heron, Gherkin and other fancy-named buildings. The Oxo Tower and terrace offers gorgeous views and the food is suitably gorgeous, too.
Sky Bar and Terrace at Aspers Casino
312 The Loft, Montfichet Road Olympic Park, E20 1ET
The Sky Bar and Terrace at Aspers Casino, Westfield Stratford, has the bling that wins. And the name to, erm, match the others. With a very luxurious feel, there’s definitely a nod to a James Bond casino about it. The views are pretty good too.
Roof East, Stratford
Westfield, E15 1XE.
It’s a bar, a crazy golf course, an open air cinema, a roller rink… you get the picture. The Roof East rooftop hangout is a brilliant community space, where people can come together to try new things, or just chill out and watch a film. The views are over the Olympic Park, with full size car flower pots. It’s very cool.
On the 38th and 39th floors of 110
Bishopsgate are some of the finest views over the city. The location features the highest outdoor dining terraces in Europe, with incredible 360 degree views. Sushisamba is a concept from the US, blending Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian culture and cuisine. It works. Check out its atmosphere, the drinks and the amazing orange tree on the roof.
The Narrow, Limehouse
44 Narrow Street, E14 8DP
Don’t let the fact that this is a Gordon Ramsey venue put you off. It’s also not technically a rooftop bar - as it is a huge panoramic terrace over the Thames. And unsurprisingly, the food at The Narrow is good. In the summer there’s an open air BBQ and it’s a gastropub atmosphere, too. Kids eat free here, so it’s worth a visit for a family occasion.
