Because the event is unable to go ahead on Southend Pier as originally planned, the team behind HMS leigh have mustered their best VE spirit with this really rather wonderful make do and mend virtual festival instead.

Take them on a historical look back at HMS Leigh and how it was involved in World War II. Uncovering the forgotten history of Southend Pier and learn about its involvement in World War Two: from her commandeering by the Royal Navy from 1939 – 1945, to being renamed HMS Leigh and used as secret Naval Command for the River Thames and London.
