Revenue protection policy
c2c expects all of its customers to travel with a valid ticket.
It is an offence to board a train for the purpose of travel without a valid ticket, and also to try and avoid paying a fare. These offences may lead to prosecution in court.
c2c, along with many other train operating companies, operates a Penalty Fares system on its service. This means that anyone who does not have a valid ticket for their journey may be liable to pay the penalty fare. If you are suspected of traveling fraudulently, you may be subject to interview, and subsequent further action including potential prosecution in court.
To understand how the Penalty Fares system works on c2c, please view our frequently asked questions. These also explain how every passenger can buy their tickets before they travel.
