Top Rail Award

c2c's Julie Davis, who manages all the rail stations in Thurrock, has won the top individual prize at the railway industry’s most prestigious awards event.

julie, who is Group Station Manager for the nine stations on the Tilbury line and is based at Grays, was presented with the Outstanding Personal Achievement award at the National Rail Awards. The judges praised Julie's personable approach to her work and the excellent way she has motivated her team since she took up the role eighteen months ago.

There was further success for c2c at the awards, which are the rail industry's equivalent of the Oscars. Staff from Thorpe Bay station were celebrating after being Highly Commended in the Best Small Station category. Geoff Powell, a c2c train driver, was also a finalist in the Outstanding Personal Achievement category for his charity and community work. c2c was also a finalist in the Rail Operator of the Year category.

Julie said: "I'm in shock to have won this award, it's such an honour. Really this recognition is for everyone in my team, and all the effort they put in to their work every day.”

c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: "We're so proud of Julie, she’s a real star. This award was highly deserved and it is great recognition for all her hard work and the incredible impact she has made."

Julie was also a finalist in National Express’ “Colleague of the Year” award earlier this year, selected from National Express’ 42,000 international employees.
