Charity Coffee Mornings
TRIO OF c2c CHARITY COFFEE MORNINGS RAISES £1,500
Staff from National Express train operator c2c have organised coffee morning events at three rail stations which raised over £1,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The local teams at Benfleet, Shoeburyness and Thorpe Bay stations all baked cakes, made cups of tea and collected raffle donations from local businesses in support of Macmillan. They were joined by friends and volunteers to run the coffee mornings throughout last Friday’s morning peak, with local passengers donating generously on their way to work.
The collection at Benfleet topped £700, while Thorpe Bay made nearly £450 and Shoeburyness raised over £380.
c2c’s Paul Bassett, who manages all three stations, said: “We’re delighted by how successful these events were at raising money for such a great cause. Each station came up with their own ideas for the day, but they’ve all had great support from the local community and been backed by the generosity of passengers. We all really enjoyed the excuse to put in a few pounds for charity – and to put them on on our waistlines too!”
