Apology for disruption
Wednesday 5 July 2017

Dear customer,

I am very sorry indeed for the severe disruption to your train services last night, Wednesday 5 July 2017 and the very unpleasant journeys that many of you had as a result.

A major failure of signalling equipment across a long section of the route between Barking and Pitsea meant we had to divert all services via Grays and were unable to run any trains via Laindon for much of the evening peak. Network Rail engineers went out to fix the failures but it was a long time before we could resume services.

I realise this meant many people had a horrible journey home last night and I am very sorry indeed for this.

If you were affected you may be entitled to compensation for any delays, click here for more information.
