Safety First
Your safety is our priority
We are trying to reduce the number of accidents from slips trips and falls in 2013, as over the course of 2012 we had 93 separate customer accidents reported on our stations.
The following stations have had more accidents reported than any other on the c2c route; Barking, Upminster, Grays and Laindon. On these you would have noticed the new ‘WALK DON’T RUN’ message designed to try and stop people running to catch their trains which is when most accidents happen.
The initial effect of the signage reduced the number of accidents, however we have noticed people are starting to run again, especially during morning peaks up and down the stairs to catch a train already on the platform. This is despite the fact that the next train is virtually waiting just outside the station to come in once this one has left!
Preventing Accidents
Please ensure your child is securely fastened into the pushchair when exiting the train.
When exiting the train, step off onto the platform and then reverse the pushchair towards you.
