New SRA figures show c2c performance improving
FIGURES issued today (Thursday 6 June) show c2c is one of the best performing train operators in the country with an overall performance figure of 88.9%.
The Strategic Rail Authority's figures reflect service improvements that c2c has made in recent months with the benefits of the company's multi-million pound investment in a new train fleet now being felt.
c2c also has the lowest overcrowding levels of all London commuter services and was the third best improving rail company in Britain in the SRA's two publications On Track and National Rail Trends.
Train punctuality, compared with the last quarter, has increased by 19% for the service as a whole and by a staggering 30% at peak times. The level of overcrowding has reduced from 1.6% this time last year to 0.3% this year, and complaints have also reduced by 12% over the same period.
c2c Route Director David Taylor said: "These very encouraging figures indicate that c2c is moving quite quickly in the right direction. The £400 million investment is beginning to pay off, as our new, more comfortable Class 357 trains are now running well and providing nearly all services on c2c.
"This is, however, no time for resting on laurels. We have got to where we are through attention to detail and hard work on the part of everyone at c2c, and we intend to keep that up and strive for even greater improvements."
