New lifts open at Upminster Station
20 December 2007
c2c are pleased to announce that work to install new lifts at Upminster station has been completed and they are now open for customer use.
The new lifts comply fully with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and are bright and modern with touch-button automatic doors which replace the old-fashioned lifts with the heavy manually operated concertina doors.
Mark Hopwood, c2c Mangaging Director commented
“Upminster station is one of the busiest on the route so it was a real challenge to have the lifts out of action whilst works were taking place so we’re very pleased to have the new lifts operational.
These new lifts are part of a programme of customer improvements that c2c have delivered this year -such as those at Benfleet station and Southend Central-which benefit everyone and importantly passengers with mobility problems.
Looking forward into the new year we have a number of customer focused projects such as the car park upgrade at Rainham, the Oyster Card extension project and the new timetable in May which will deliver real benefits to our customers and we look forward to making further details available soon”
