Train services will run on all c2c routes throughout the Bank Holiday weekend which will be free of any engineering.
On Saturday 26 May 2007 a normal Saturday service will run.
On Sunday 27 May 2007 a normal service will run, but there will be extra carriages to make it easy for people to visit the Southend Air Show.
On Monday 28 May a Sunday service will run but again there will be extra carriages to make it easy for people to visit the Southend Air Show.
In it's 22nd year, the Southend Airshow is one of the largest free Airshows in Europe. A new addition for this year is a Boeing 747, and a fight simulation with a Spitfire, Hurricane and Mecherschmit. The displays and fly-pasts take place over the Thames Estuary at Southend. With 4 trains per hour between London and Southend Central and between Pitsea and Southend, and a half-hourly service from other stations, and with longer trains, getting to the site could not be easier .
Throughout the weekend and the following week all services will run to and from Fenchurch Street as booked.
Route Director Kevin Frazer said, I am delighted that again we have no engineering work on c2c over the Bank Holiday weekend and as a result people in south Essex will be able to use the train to get out and about, forgetting about traffic jams and parking problems. On Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday we will be adding carriages to trains so that there is plenty of room for people visiting the Southend air show, which promises to be bigger and better than ever this year..
"Safety is paramount for us on c2c and we want all our customers to stay safe so please keep to the platforms and the trains and away from the track and power cables. We all want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe Bank Holiday."
Details of all c2c services, including those running over the Bank Holiday, can be obtained by calling 08457 48 49 50.
