Latest figures show performance back on track for c2c
FIGURES released today by the South Essex to London train operating company c2c show a marked improvement in services since Christmas.
In the wake of last year's problems with teething troubles with its new trains and a prolonged series of industrial action by the RMT guards' union, staff pulled out all the stops to concentrate on improving performance for the benefit of customers.
And today's figures show the hard work has paid off, with both punctuality and reliability (which covers the level of cancellations) both on a continuous upward curve throughout the last four months*
4 week period to | % of trains on time | % of trains run |
8 December 2001 | 68.60% | 96.6% |
5 January 2002 | 85.90% | 97.10% |
3 February 2002 | 87.90% | 98.20% |
3 March 2002 | 94.60% | 98.50% |
c2c Route Director David Taylor welcomed the release of the latest statistics and said: "We are not complacent and are not going to rest on our laurels because things are looking up. The view of everyone at c2c is to keep working for continuous improvement and to make this the best railway in the country.
"Our customers have had to put up with a lot over the last few years, but this year they are seeing and will continue to see the benefits of our huge investment in the route coming through.
"The continuous improvement shown by these figures is not just down to the improved reliability of our new fleet of trains, but also the hard work and dedication of all our staff."
*Editor's note: the punctuality figures reflect performance in the morning and evening peaks, while the reliability figures cover trains all day.
