From 19th November users of Oyster PAYG travelling on Transport for London services and the participating National Rail services will be subject to an Entry/Exit charge if they fail to 'touch in' and 'touch out' on each journey they undertake. The Entry/Exit charge will be £4 at Limehouse, West Ham, Barking and Upminster, and at Fenchurch Street station the charge will be £5 to take account of the greater fare range.
The charge is introduced to reduce the number of incomplete journeys for PAYG where passengers are paying the incorrect fare.
Oyster PAYG is only valid on a small number of participating National Rail services. On other services which do not accept Oyster PAYG, passengers travelling are subject to the normal rules on ticket less travel and may be liable to a Penalty Fare.
