c2c Top of SRA Public Performance Measure League Table
c2c has been named best performing train operating company (TOC) in London and the South East for the period July to September 2004 according to the Strategic Rail Authority's National Rail Trends report.
Released today, the report provides official data on a range of industry-wide indicators including the Public Performance Measure (PPM) that combines figures for reliability and punctuality to measure overall TOC performance. With 93.3% of trains arriving on time at their destination all day, c2c was the best performing operator in its region. This represents an improvement of 7.6% on the same period last year.
Commenting on the news, Leila Frances, route director, c2c said, Our priority is to provide a quality service to our customers and performance plays an integral part in achieving this goal. While we are pleased that we have been named as the leading performer in London and the South East, we are definitely not complacent. There is still room for improvement and we will continue to review and introduce enhancements to the service to help achieve this.
The report also includes the National Passenger Survey (NPS) results which canvass and measure passenger opinions on a variety of aspects of the rail service. c2c's ranking went up, with overall passenger satisfaction increasing 2% on the previous quarter to 82%.
Commenting on these results, Ms Frances said, While we don't use the NPS as an exclusive source of information regarding passengers' views, we do hold it in high regard. Overall it seems that passenger satisfaction is slightly increased. Some of the more negative feedback relates to the provision of information - something we are addressing through the forthcoming introduction of journey updates via our on-train television systems.
