c2c rail regrets threat of strike action

c2c rail is disappointed at the recent announcement by the RMT that signalmen employed by Network Rail are to take industrial action for 24 hours on both 20 and 25 June. Network Rail have advised that they are seeking urgent talks with the RMT. At the same time c2c is seeking clarification as to how exactly it will be affected if negotiations to call off the strike are unsuccessful.

Managing Director Mark Hopwood said Disruption to services at any time is to be regretted, but this threat of industrial action could not have come at a worse time, with the holiday season underway, the high temperatures and the world cup. I very much hope that the parties involved can reach an agreement and avoid disruption to the travelling public. In the meantime, once we have received clarification from Network Rail as to the effect any industrial action is likely to have on c2c we will draw up a plan of what services we are able to run, although of course these are likely to be extremely limited. As soon as we have this information we will let all our customers know using this website and posters at stations.
