c2c invests in improvements at Barking

A £500,000 programme of improvements has been completed at c2c's Barking station.

Passenger benefits include a staffed customer information point, Ladies and Gents toilets on the approach to the platform and a window in the booking office specially adapted for customers in wheelchairs who wish to buy tickets. The information point and the toilets are on the platform side of the ticket gates.

Route Director Leila Frances said, "We are always looking for ways to improve the overall service we offer to our customers. Here at Barking we have invested in improvements that are good news for everyone using Barking station, whether they are commuters or leisure travellers. The customer information point means that if anyone needs some assistance they will know exactly where to go get information about their train or connecting service or to find someone who can help. There were already toilets for passengers with disabilities, and baby changing facilities, so the opening of the new Ladies and Gents means that all our customers now have access to toilets at the station.

"An important feature of the work is the booking office window that has been specially adapted so that customers in wheelchairs can easily purchase tickets

"These improvements demonstrate c2c's continued commitment to enhancing the station environment we provide for our customers. They also complement the very high level of punctuality which, at 93% for services all day, is at an all-time high."
