c2c invests in improvements at Barking
A £500,000 programme of improvements is about to get underway at c2c's Barking station.
When the work is completed passengers will benefit from a staffed customer information point, Ladies and Gents toilets on the approach to the platform and window in the booking office specially adapted for customers in wheelchairs who wish to buy tickets. The information point and the toilets will be on the platform side of the ticket gates.
The work is scheduled for completion in November 2004.
Route Director Leila Frances said, " These improvements are good news for everyone using Barking station, whether they are commuters or leisure travellers. The customer information point means that if anyone needs some assistance they will know exactly where to go to find someone who can help. There are already toilets for passengers with disabilities, and baby changing facilities, so the opening of the new Ladies and Gents will mean that all our customers using the station have access to toilets at the station.
"An important feature of the work is the booking office window that has been specially adapted so that customers in wheelchairs can easily purchase tickets
"These improvements demonstrate c2c's continued commitment to enhancing the station environment we provide for our customers."
