c2c discovers local pop icon
c2c's 'Search for a Pop Icon' was concluded on Saturday when local singer Hayley Stanford triumphed to win both the 11-14 category and the overall prize of a session in a recording studio, a style makeover and the title of c2c Pop Icon. The event, held on Saturday 10th August at Lakeside Shopping Centre, was a huge success, proving that Essex is a hotbed for talented performers.
Hayley, 14, from Mayland near Chelmsford, said of her win, "I just can't believe it, I am so excited, it hasn't really sunk in. When I won my category I was really excited but when they said I had won overall I was so shocked! The prizes are fantastic, I can't wait to get into the recording studio and the style makeover will be amazing!"
Other winners included Christie Prentice from Southwoodham Ferrers in the 15-17 category and Fay Whale from Basildon who won the 18+ category. Each category winner received £100 Lakeside Shopping Centre vouchers along with a prize hamper courtesy of c2c and House of Fraser.
Kevin Haffie, c2c Group Station Manager for the Thurrock region and one of the judges for the event said, "'Search for a Pop Icon' was a resounding success and on behalf of c2c I would like to thank all the contestants, especially Hayley - she has an exceptional voice and I wish her the very best of luck."
