Alistair Darling sets 'How Clean Is Your Train?' test
Alistair Darling, Transport Secretary, today launched a new cleaning initiative for c2c customers.
'How Clean is Your train?' invites passengers to call c2c and ask for trains to be cleaned if they are not up to standard. Once a complaint is made, the train is cleaned as soon as it reaches the end of the line. Unveiling the scheme and meeting staff at the recently refurbished Basildon station Alistair Darling said: 'We often forget that the merits of a punctual journey can soon be forgotten when trains are dirty and uncomfortable. c2c have set themselves a real challenge but this is exactly the sort of initiative that customers want and deserve.'
'c2c have put immense effort into modernising and improving services for customers in the South East. This is just one more example of how they have turned their performance around.'
Andrew Chivers, c2c Managing Director said: I am delighted that the Secretary of State decidedto visit us at c2c and see for himself the results of a major investment and modernisation programme. Through the dedication of the team and their close attention to detail, c2c is now one of the best performing Train Operating Companies in the South East - which is what our customers expect. We intend to keep it that way.
As part of his visit to c2c Alistair Darling also saw the combined c2c/Network Rail Integrated Electrical Control Centre, travelled on the new Electrostar commuter fleet and saw improvements to stations now fitted with customer service information screens and automatic gates.
