Southend is home to one of the UK's largest FREE Airshows it has seven miles of glorious seafront, the longest pier in the world, three prestigious Blue Flag beaches, and a feast of exciting festivals and events throughout the year make  a must-go destination.

Attractions

Ready for excitement? Scream the loudest on rollercoaster RAGE at Adventure Island, one of the UK's favourite theme parks. Plunge to earth on SkyDrop, brave the Pharaoh's Fury or take your little pirates on the Jumping Jolly Rogers.

Ride the railway to the end of Southend's famous pier then check out its eventful history at Pier Museum. Treat the kids to a trip beneath the waves to come face to face with a shark or a stingray at Sea Life Adventure centre.

Southend has attractions to suit everyone, with fun and adventure for kids and grown ups alike.

Out and about

Build sandcastles with the kids at Jubilee or Three Shells Beach at the heart of the seafront, or take your bucket and spade to the quieter sands of Chalkwell Beach.

Whatever the weather the Southend seaside offers a variety of sights and sounds whether watching the varied wildlife or simply strolling along the shoreline.

Breathe in the heady scent of roses at Chalkwell Park or be dazzled by colourful floral displays at Southchurch Park and Priory Park.

Culture

Alongside the traditional seaside entertainment, there's a flourishing arts scene to discover and a feast of festivals throughout the year.

The classical strains of the Royal Philharmonic at Concert in the Park are always popular but did you know that there's a whole series of classical concerts at Cliffs Pavilion and at other venues too? Search out ‘trad' jazz at small clubs across town. Be the first to spot new talent at the showcase for up and coming rock music in Battle of the Bands.

Shopping and nightlife

You'll find the town centre has all you could wish for with all the top retail names plus independently-owned shops to choose from. There are covered shopping centres at each end of the high street making your visit ideal whatever the weather.

Illuminations and laser lights set the scene for a dazzling night out.

Bright lights of the Kursaal dome signal more top entertainment and all the family will enjoy ten pin bowling in the state-of-the-art bowling alley. Adults can try their luck here at Rendezvous Casino or at Maxim's Casino nearby, or simply meet friends in one of the wine bars.

Adventure Island is currently closed for the winter period but will be re-opening on  Saturday 16th February to Sunday 24th February for Half Term Week* and then all weekends after.
