c2c launch Spring Days Out Guide for British Tourism Week

The c2c network includes a host of destinations which are perfect for a great day out, whether it is the city or the countryside that appeals. These include:

  • Top of the list is London. If you’re heading to the city, then look no further than c2c services into Fenchurch Street. Fenchurch Street station is just a short walk away from the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and the River Thames. Travelling by train is the best way to see London's attractions for less, and travelling with c2c two people can enjoy over 100 great attractions, theatres, restaurants and events for the price of one. From museums and galleries to river cruises, there really is something for everyone. For more information ask at your local c2c station for a voucher book or go here.
  • If you want to escape the city for a day at the seaside, why not visit Southend-on-Sea. Southend Central station is a brief 2 minutes walk from the seafront, so in no time at all you can be walking along the longest pier in the world or exploring the glorious beaches. For a quieter alternative try the pretty seaside towns of Shoeburyness or the quaint ‘Old Town’ Leigh-on-Sea, with its cobbled streets, cockle sheds, Heritage Centre and delicious fresh seafood to enjoy.
  • If you’d prefer to escape to the countryside then how about visiting the RSPB Rainham Marshes nature reserve (nearest station Purfleet). A fully accessible nature trail allows you to experience nature first-hand. The marshes are home to a variety of birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and invertebrates. You may also want to make use of the kids adventure play area or visit the award winning visitor centre, including a café with views over the marshes and River Thames. A clearly signposted walk will take you from Purfleet station to the Reserve.
  • For a little retail therapy why not hop off the train at Chafford Hundred station and head to Lakeside – one of the biggest shopping complexes in Europe. Here you will find over 250 shops, plus restaurants, bars and cafes to relax in and a cinema in which to catch up on the latest releases. Look out for the Free Easter Egg Hunt for children on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Alan Bray Head of Marketing for c2c said:

“We fully support British Tourism Week. The c2c network incorporates a host of destinations which are perfect for a family day out, with the ‘2for1’ admissions offer at leading London attractions and our ‘Groupsave’ option, it not only offers a great day out, but great value too. We hope this week long celebration will encourage more people to get out and about exploring Britain.”
