Where do you live?
Laindon
What is your profession?
Insurance Broker
Why did you join the Panel?
To improve the travelling experience of those using c2c and to ensure Laindon station was fairly represented at meetings.
What do like most about travelling with c2c?
Trains starting/ending at Laindon and the efficient service.
What do you like least about travelling with c2c?
The train interior as male passengers cannot sit three abreast on the seats provided which are only large enough for women or children. Equally, only thinner people can comfortably move down the aisles. In addition, the lack of toilets is frustrating. The old trains had up to four per four carriages but now there is only one which regularly seems to have smokers inside and is therefore unavailable.
What should c2c be doing to improve the service over the next 5 years?
Run longer trains, ensure service along Pitsea - Barking via Laindon is supplied by trains coming out of the Barking depot to ensure that problems along the Tilbury line do not affect the main line. Also introduce platform coverings along platforms that like Laindon only have a rain cover at one end. Ensure trains stop where people want to get on them - at Laindon, the service stops at the wrong end of the platform and no effort is made to remedy this obviously annoying problem (especially in the rain). Ensure more people are employed who speak English. Use the middle platform more often at Laindon for trains to stop there whilst non-stopping trains go through - to ensure more trains stop at Laindon - they don't have to finish there to stop there, after all.

Chafford Hundred
What is your profession?
Work in the Technology Department of a major UK bank
Why did you join the Panel?
To find out more about the operation and hopefully my input will benefit other passengers.
What are your views on train travel in general?
It's great when it all works but sometimes the small problems can be really frustrating. Train travel should be seen as one part of transport policy - people need to recognise that for some journeys it can make little sense to travel by car, whilst for others a train would make little sense. You need choice.
What do like most about travelling with c2c?
The convenience for where I work and the vastly improved reliability over the last few years.
What do you like least about travelling with c2c?
As it is one of the smaller lines into London, when there is a major incident it can be really difficult to travel.
What should c2c be doing to improve the service over the next 5 years?
Improving station environments and tackling anti-social behaviour around stations.

I didn't want to be one of those people who moaned and did nothing about it. So I decided to give my voice to the panel.
What are your views on train travel in general?
As I don't drive, trains are my main way of travelling around. I think today they are pretty comfortable, fast and reliable.
What do like most about travelling with c2c?
The service is impressive, pretty much always on time. The trains are clean and reasonably comfortable
What do you like least about travelling with c2c?
When the service is delayed it is never by a small amount. When it goes wrong, it seems to go really wrong.
What should c2c be doing to improve the service over the next 5 years?
Continue to work on the incident management side of things, so that when things go wrong we can get back to normality quickly.

Why did you join the Panel?
I joined the panel to highlight issues that I felt needed addressing. Instead of simply complaining that things needed attention I felt it would be beneficial to help c2c by becoming a panel member
What are your views on train travel in general?
Generally, I feel that train travel is becoming more labourius as it is evident that trains are becoming more crowded, with disruptions due to never-ending maintenance work & increasing prices. The price increases but the service remains stagnant.
What do you like most about travelling with c2c?
c2c is one of the best running lines that I use on a daily basis. The carriages with their heating & air conditioning really do a difference as does the fact that delays are rare & when compared to other lines between London & Essex the price for annual travel is decent.
What should c2c be doing to improve the service over the next five years?
I think that increasing capacity should be C2C' focus for the next 5 years in order to improve its service.
