Securely Yours - c2c

In a recent customer survey some of you told us that you had some concerns about personal security when using c2c trains and stations.

This page is designed to reassure you that we do care about your safety and security and shows how we are looking out for you on every step of your journey with us.

Safer Car Parks

Park Mark Symbol

Let’s start with our stations and begin in an area that many of you use – the station car park.

You will be pleased to know that car crime is coming down at our stations and that our car parks at Thorpe Bay, Westcliff, Leigh on Sea, Rainham and Upminster have already been awarded the Park Mark safer parking standard.

More will be added in a programme of improvements along with the much needed car park extensions at West Horndon and Ockendon.

Secure Stations

Help Point Image

Stations too have to meet strict standards if they are to be awarded the government’s Secure Stations accreditation, including the provision of push button help points, enhanced lighting and station areas, where working with the police, we have deliberately designed out crime.

The vast majority of the stations that we manage attained this standard in 2007.

Keeping watch over you

CCTV Image

One way of keeping you and your property secure while you are travelling with us is through monitoring by closed circuit television (CCTV).

On stations and in our car parks, our cameras are constantly monitored from a central control room, while similar high quality digital images obtained from cameras in each coach of our specially fitted trains can be instantly downloaded should the need arise.

In fact, we are currently experimenting with a look ahead camera that will enable us to identify trespassers and others who may be misbehaving on our tracks and stations.

Dealing with anti-social behaviour

Policeman

We know where most of these problems are concentrated on our network and we regularly mount joint exercises with British Transport Police and with local forces targeting problem areas with great success.

Our aim is to drive away those who have no business on our stations and ensure that everyone who travels on our trains has a valid ticket.
