Toilet / Cycle provision
- Issue - Would be possible to remove seats around the toilet area to make more room for cycles.
- Response - there are certain statutory requirements in respect of disabled provision in the area around the toilet, which includes seating for companions of disabled people. c2c has given lengthy consideration to the balance between providing seats or standing space, and had concluded that customers preferred the seats, especially for longer journeys.
Access for All major schemes at Pitsea
- Footbridge improvements and installation of lifts to all platforms at Pitsea, being delivered by Network Rail. Completion in autumn 2011, including environmental and boundary fence improvements – the latter should eliminate some of the illegal access issues raised at a previous Panel meeting.
Shoeburyness
- National Stations Improvement Programme (NSIP) works, including enhancement of forecourt car and cycle parking. Major works in the station building are on hold pending a Network Rail review of recently discovered structural problems.
Southend East
- NSIP scheme providing new up side ticket office, canopy and cycle parking, together with improvements to the down side access. Shell of the new ticket office now constructed, with expectations that staff will move across to the new facility in July.
Chafford Hundred
- NSIP scheme to start in July, focusing on platform widening and new shelters and canopies.
Leigh on Sea
- Borough Council scheme for cycle and motor cycle parking largely complete.
