What are the benefits?

Pay and extend your parking by phone - no more rushing back to the car to top-up your parking

  • No hunting for machines - just park, make a short call or send a text, and go!

  • No more pocketfuls of change

  • No need to display a ticket in your vehicle

  • Text reminders before your parking expires (optional)

  • Only pay for what you use - call back to cancel the unused portion of your parking session if you come back early

How does the parking attendant know I've paid by phone?

When you pay for your parking by phone, your vehicle registration number and parking time is automatically displayed on a handheld device used by the parking attendant.

How do I add an additional vehicle to my account?

There are two ways of doing this:

  • On the website, log in and click on ''Profile'. You may add any number of vehicles.

  • Call the Park & Pay by phone on 0870 458 9600 and select '2' near the end of the transaction when you are asked to either 'Press 1' to confirm or 'Press 2' to change

What should I do if I forget my PIN?

You can log-in with either your PIN or the last 4-digits of the card that you registered with us. You can request your PIN to be sent to you by email www.verrus.com.

What happens if I get a parking ticket?

You should contact National Car Parks on 0845 680 0023. They will have access to all the transactions that you have done through the Park & Pay by Phone service. Alternatively, you can contact Verus Pay on 0870 112 6412.

What happens if I don't get a confirmation text when using the text service?

When using the text service you should get a confirmation text back within 5 minutes. If not, then call 0870 458 9600 to check that you are parked - if not then park using the voice system.

I lost the phone signal whilst registering. What should I do?

If you did not finish entering your card details or your license plate then you will be asked for these details the next time you call. You will only be asked for those details that were not entered on the previous call.

I am not sure if I have paid correctly - how can I check?

Call the Park & Pay by Phone number (0870 458 9600) - if it gives you the option to extend your parking you will know that are currently parked. If you wish to know the time that your parking expires then press 1 to extend your parking and you will be told the time that your current parking session expires

Can I use the service from a landline?

Yes, you can. When you call from a landline you will be asked to enter your mobile phone number and your PIN - you can then park on your account.

Can I pay for parking before I arrive in the car park?

The system is not intended as an advanced booking system. There is nothing to stop you paying for parking before you arrive - but you cannot be sure of finding a space, and your parking session will start from the time you confirm the transaction.

I park in the same car park every day - is there a quick way of using the system?

Yes - the quickest way is to use the text interface. Just send the location, duration and your 3-digit card security number by text to 0795 008 0201 in the following format:

Can I register using my Blackberry?

The Blackberry keypad is a little different - you will not be able to enter your vehicle registration number via the IVR system. Instead, you should either register online at www.verrus.com or by sending a text to 0795 008 0201 in the following format:

LOCATION DURATION REGNUMBER CARDNUMBER EXPIRYDATE 3-DIGITSECURITYNUMBER

e.g. 7769 2 AB05CDE 4921826569821122 0808 339

This will register you as new user and park vehicle AB05CDE in location 7769 for 2 hours.

Privacy & Security

Is it safe to do a credit card transaction on a mobile phone like this?

Yes. Your credit card number is encrypted when you sign up and is never entered, displayed, or spoken during a transaction.

Why do you require my mobile phone number? I don't want people to call me

Your mobile phone number becomes your Park & Pay by Phone account number. It's easy for you to remember, and it's unique to you alone. Your personal information is locked behind a secret PIN that you choose. And don't worry -- nobody will call you! Please see the Verrus Privacy policy: http://verrus.com/default.asp?ctState=mn.

Payment

How much does it cost to pay for parking by phone?

A small Service Charge is added to the normal parking fee and billed to your credit or debit card. The Service Charge is as follows:

  • 20p to initiate a new parking session where the parking fee is less than £2

  • 30p to initiate a new parking session where the parking fee is £2 or more

  • Reminder texts are charged at 20p

  • 20p to extend or cancel an existing parking session

When will I see the transactions on my credit/debit card statement?

Each time you pay for your parking by phone the payment is processed in real-time. The amount of time that elapses before it shows up on your statement will vary depending on your card issuer. On your statement the transaction will appear as National Car Parks.

Do I get a receipt?

There are two ways of doing this:

  • On the website log-in and click on the 'Transactions' tab. Enter the start and end date and all the parking sessions during this time will be displayed. Either print directly or click on 'Export report to file' to download to your PC

  • Enter your email address in your 'Profile' on the website and you will be sent an email receipt automatically
